Council
Majority Leader Joel Rivera
:: Joel Rivera was elected to the New York City Council in February
of 2001 and he began to represent the Bronxs 15th district,
the same community that he had grown-up in. But what makes Councilman
Riveras political career particularly interesting? One could
argue that its the fact that only one year after taking office,
he was unanimously selected by his Democratic colleagues to become
the City Councils Majority Leader. Or, that he was instrumental
in bringing 30 million dollars into the Bronx to help reduce overcrowding
in public schools. But, probably the most impressive part of Riveras
career as Councilman is that it all began when he was only 22 years
old.

Cartoons :: Dustin Glick is the creator/cartoonist of
"Dustinland" and "Birdy." From diatribes on
conservatism to horse pornography, Dustins comedic non-sequiturs
prove that there is much humor to be found in the mundane OR possibly
not so mundane subjects he chooses to satirize. After checking out
his site: www.dustinland.com,
writer Beth Gottfried has found yet
another way to distract herself from doing anything remotely constructive
with her day...
